What do two Willamette Valley garden designers do on a quiet Sunday? We drive south to visit the Rare Plant Research Facility outside of Oregon City of course! https://www.rareplantresearch.com.
A beautiful Oregon mist, rolling green hills, holstein cows, and exotic plants from around the world and lots of native options too. I am interested in exotic plants and unusual plants that will grow in our temperate maritime climate. As a permaculture advocate, I am open to plants that have migrated to the Americas from distant places like South America and China, to name a few. Often they acclimate easily and don’t require a great deal of pampering – not always the case. I purchased a musa, a hardy banana that will survive a cold winter. They are surprisingly resilience in our cool PMW winters.
