Permaculture Naturescape

Using Backyard Habitat guidelines,  Urban Village Designs crew, with Common Sense Gardens design, transformed this tract home into a permaculture wildlife habitat.

This permaculture project is located on a wetland near Forest Grove, an expansive area rich with farming, logging (in the past).  The housing development directs all rainwater runoff into the watershed and wetlands project.  Common Sense Gardens designs understand how to follow Backyard Habitat guidelines using permaculture principles to design and install a wildlife habitat/naturescape.  The owners wanted to build a demonstration edible and native garden to illustrate how to sustainably landscape their corner lot.  Main principle: Capture and Store energy by building a nurse log, pollinator garden as a welcome patch, use of vine maples to create wildlife protection and screening along a crescent shaped berm.
